Locomotor Movements

Locomotor movements are movements that take place over distance.  Examples include skipping, galloping, leaping, jumping, hopping, and running.  They are the basis for more complex skills and movements for sports and games.  Second graders use locomotor movements to warm up at the beginning of gym class.

Sports Skills

Second graders are learning skills to play floor hockey and basketball.

Movement Through Teamwork

Students must work cooperatively to use the given resources to achieve movement across the designated space.
